Robert Gordon Butter Bell

Cold butter destroys good bread.

A butter bell keeps butter naturally soft and spreadable on your bench, no microwaving, no waiting, no frustration.

The Garden To Table Butter Bell is designed for those who value slow mornings, shared meals and the beauty of practical pieces made with intention.

Crafted from durable stoneware with an earthy clay body and soft organic glaze, this timeless piece keeps your butter naturally soft and spreadable, without refrigeration.

The water seal keeps air out and freshness in, this method has been used for generations.

Perfect for your bench beside a warm loaf of sourdough or your morning toast ritual.

How to Use Your Butter Bell

  1. Let approximately 250g of butter sit at room temperature until soft and easy to spread.

  2. Press or spoon the softened butter firmly into the lid of the butter bell.

  3. Pour cold water into the base (about one-third full).

  4. Carefully invert the butter-filled lid and place it into the water-filled base to create an airtight seal.

  5. Change the water every 2–3 days (daily in warmer climates).

  6. Store on your kitchen counter. No refrigeration needed.
